We are pleased to open our 2025 season with the musically well-traveled Tune Tourists! The Tune Tourists – WB Reid, Bonnie Zahnow and Ruthie Dornfeld – are Seattle musicians who love to travel and have picked up fiddle tunes and songs from all around the Americas and Europe. From a French waltz to a Danish hopsa, Quebecois reels to old-time southern hoedowns, Cajun 2-steps, and dance tunes from Michoacán, You’ll hear some top notch twin fiddling and fine guitar and banjo accompaniment, along with vocals by WB and Bonnie from the Western swing, Cajun, Mexican and blues traditions. WB and Bonnie have performed as a duo for many years, and fiddler Ruthie Dornfeld has more recently joined them.

WB Reid is a community musician in Seattle who makes music from countless genres for local dances, concerts, life events and festivals while also touring throughout the US and in Europe. Long running band projects include The Todalo Shakers jug band with Eric & Suzy Thompson, old-time fiddling with The Tallboys, and New England dance tunes on six-string banjo & guitar in the Rhythm Rollers and Chicken Feathers. He plays most frequently with his wife, Bonnie Zahnow, and is also kept busy as a guitar accompanist in several traditions.
Bonnie Zahnow  played for nearly 10 years with the legendary open band for square and contra dances at the G-Note and New Melody Taverns, as well as many years playing for family dances and with the Mexican music ensemble “Los Chalados.” For the past 20 years, she has participated in the annual Festival of American Fiddle Tunes where she has met and learned from tradition bearers including Melvin Wine, Joe Thompson, Charlie Acuff, Bob Holt, Don Pedro Dimas, and many others. She’s currently playing contra dance music with Chicken Feathers.

Fiddler Ruthie Dornfeld‘s big tone, fierce rhythm and fluid style, along with a wildly eclectic repertoire, have won her popularity among dancers and concert audiences alike. Fluent in a wide range of traditional styles (Irish, American old-time, Scandinavian and Eastern European, for starters), she has performed and taught for over forty years throughout the USA and from the Manaus Operahouse in the Brazilian Amazon to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Though Ruthie is a Pacific Northwest native, she spent many years in New England as a mainstay player in its thriving contra dance scene, as well as performing with accordionist Jeremiah McLane, The American Café Orchestra, and The Poodles among many others. She’s known for her fluency in a wide range of styles and her consummate dance fiddling. Ruthie is currently a member of the tango band Tangoheart and is an active fiddle teacher.  https://ruthiedornfeld.com/

Special Guest Del Rey will play an opening set. She is a fantastic player on both ukulele and resonator guitar. Rags, blues and tunes of the early 20th century are her specialty, even as she writes new music to add to the tradition.  Del Rey also has fashion sense that would make Minnie Pearl smile.
