SFS Board Meeting - April 4, 2006 Present Karen Shaw, Ralph Kosche, Valerie Cohen, Bruce Baker, Fred Maslan, Woody Wood, Adam Carlson Also presenting: Eric Chard, Richard Gillman Also present: Nancy Hutchings, John Madsen - Last meeting's minutes approved. - Introductions all round - we're all still us - Eric Chard's presentation on the library o Is there a demand? o Teaching materials vs. archival o San Francisco Folk music library o Nordic heritage museum o Where to get stock - Ralph suggests that a small donator base could provide much material o Action item: Eric will write an article for SFS flyer - Richard Gillman o Currently $137/yr and very small bandwidth and storage allotments o Recommendations * Flux services (Bothell) * Live host (Vancouver) . .5G in bandwith . 20M of static content o Event calendar online? * Would be a great service * Board feels it would kill the flyer o Late entry addendum for calendar flyer * Good use of web resources o Board agreed to go with Richard's choice of web hosting provider - Membership software o Exec. Com. recommends allotting $700 for a membership and SFS business computer. o Board voted to accept recommendation of Exec. Com. o Targeting August for cutover to new membership software - Intern report o Contract w/ intern, UW & SFS o Escape clauses all round o Only compensation is credit hours o Acceptance of contract - Voted and approved - Committee meetings should be posted to board mailing list - Exec committee report o In addition to membership software & intern, tee-shirts o Exec. Com. recommends purchase of 250 t-shirts * 1 color/ 1 side $4.30 * 2 colors $4.60 * 1 color 2 sides + .65 * 2 color 2 sides 4.60 + .95 * Including tax & screen setup * Suggestion old logo on one side new on front w/ "40 yrs of folk" o Voted and approved - Nominating com. sent out procedures - Finance committee has not yet met - Need a membership committee - Email Fred about volunteering at Folklife - John suggested that 40th anniversary & DVD will require a budget, possibly up to $1000 - Karen passed out bylaws and confirmed that nominations and board elections were consistent with bylaws - John Ullman confirmed with a non-profit attorney that we followed bylaws. Richard Humphries & Phil Williams - New business: o Valerie will order envelopes priced at ~$45/1000 - Next meeting - June 6, 7:00 at Karen Shaw's house
